Strollers are one of the most expensive things you’ll invest in your child. If you already have or are interested in having more than one kid, you’ll want a double jogging stroller, which makes things even more expensive.

Double the stroller, double the cost. Ok, well maybe not exactly double, but you catch my drift.

Double jogging strollers are the most convenient and comfortable way to get multiple kids around.

The problem is, by the time you realize you need or want a double stroller, you’ve probably already invested in several other strollers. At least I had.

I’m breaking down my stroller journey with two kids, the ridiculous amount I’ve now spent on strollers (hint, it’s over a thousand dollars), and the double jogging stroller hack I’ve found that will literally save you tons of money.

Baby Registry Decisions

The first time you look at strollers is when you’re creating your baby registry.

It’s so fun and exciting to look at all the exciting products and decide what colors, brands, and accessories you’ll have for your kid.

Then you get to the strollers. And then you see the prices.

The problem with strollers is the same as buying a house. You start off on the cheaper side within whatever budget you’ve set, but then you start to see other options.

The next option is only slightly more and comes with X, Y, and Z features. So it makes sense to bump up the budget. After all, this is a LIFETIME investment. Ok, definitely not lifetime, but your kid is going to use this for a long time.

But wait, the next more expensive stroller option expands for two kids, which eventually you will need. Plus it has even more features. And doesn’t your perfect baby deserve the absolute nicest stroller all the other babies are riding around in?

Next thing you know you’ve thrown out any shred of rationale and and registering for a stroller so expensive it’s kind of embarrassing to put on your registry.

But in your mind, it’s the stroller you and your entire family will use for years and years to come.

If this is, or was you, don’t feel bad, it was me too.

UPPAbaby VISTA Stroller Registry Mistake

This scenario is what I like to call the UPPAbaby VISTA registry oopsie.

I, along with about a million other new mommies to be, registered for the UPPAbaby VISTA stroller. I chose a trendy color, and joined the ranks of all the other Chicago moms walking around with a ridiculously overpriced stroller.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the worst. You can get even more expensive when you head over to X or X brands.

So what can I tell you about the UPPAbaby VISTA stroller.

It’s actually a great stroller. It rides incredibly smooth, has a great shade cover, and the bassiet is amazing for lazy walks when your baby is still a sleepy infant. Keep in mind, it’s also incredibly large and heavy. I still have a difficult time folding it up and putting it in my trunk.

Wait, so why is this a mistake?

For me, one of the primary selling points of the UPPAbaby VISTA is that it would convert for two kids when I needed it to. Technically it could even convert for three kids with a little scooter attachment in the back. It’s called the UPPAbaby VISTA PiggyBack Ride-Along Board, and it will cost you another $120.

We were planning on having at least one more child, so we felt like our investment beat the system. And since we didn’t even have one kid yet, we had no idea what to look for in this double jogging stroller we could eventually need.

Then my second pregnancy came around.

We started looking at the options and figuring out how I was going to take both kids on walks and get around.

And this is when we realized exactly how we got tricked.

UPPAbaby VISTA Double Stroller Reality

What we realized is that the reality of the UPPAbaby VISTA as a double stroller is that it stinks.

The stroller is great for one kid, but adding two is just a nightmare, AND it’s insanely expensive.

What you realize when actually have two children is that you want them next to each other. You don’t want one in front of the other, or one way up near your face, and one basically riding on the ground.

Plus, you don’t want to spent another $200 just to get the other one in the stroller.

Yes, you heard me right. The UPPAbaby VISTA stroller doesn’t just magically transform so you can fit both kids. You have to buy an entire NEW seat. And that seat is CRAZY expensive.

The UPPAbaby VISTA RumbleSeat will cost you an additional $199, and P.S. it only holds a child up to 35 pounds.

That means unless your kids are irish twins, you won’t even be able to use this thing for very long!

Plus, you’re already around $1,000 into this stroller investment. Do you really want to spend more now?

This is the point in our stroller buying journey where we pulled the plug on UPPAbaby VISTA.

UPPAbaby VISTA Double Stroller Bassinet Hack

I will tell you very quickly that we did find a ridiculous hack to use for the first few months of baby number 2’s life.

One thing I loved about the UPPAbaby VISTA stroller was the bassinet. It was so cozy for little babies to be strolled around while snoozing.

But once I had both kids and didn’t want to spend another $200, I was out of luck. Or so I thought.

We ended up purchasing the UPPAbaby VISTA Lower Adapter for around $25. This allowed us to move the bassinet to the bottom part of the stroller. This way, we were able to have our first child in the regular seat, facing me up top, and the baby in the bassinet below her.

Please keep in mind, this isn’t really how it’s supposed to be used. It’s a super tight fit, and you basically have to put the baby in first before the larger kid up top. But, it worked for us for a hot minute after our second daughter was born.

Then, we found the best double jogging stroller ever.

Why You Need a Double Jogging Stroller

I’ll preface this by explaining that i am not a runner. Nor a jogger. However, when I started searching for a double stroller I was pretty specific in what I wanted.

See because I had been spoiled with the UPPAbaby VISTA experience, I needed a stroller that had a smooth ride.

When you buy cheap strollers with cheap little wheels, you can tell the difference.

We purchased a cheaper umbrella stroller for around $150 at buybuyBABY, and we used to argue about who had to push it. Don’t get me wrong, it works for an umbrella stroller, but it’s not what I wanted to push on walks every day.

So I knew I needed big wheels. Preferably a three wheel scenario, with two big wheels in the back, and one big wheel in the front.

From my experience, strollers with these wheels just drive better, whether you are jogging or just walking like me.

So that narrowed my double stroller search down to basically double jogging strollers.

I also knew I wanted a side by side stroller. And I needed one that would work for the age gap between my girls (about 22 months, or almost two years).

This led me to BOB.

The BOB Double Jogging Stroller

It’s impossible to talk about double jogging strollers, or even single jogging strollers for that matter, without talking about the BOB brand.

The BOB double jogging stroller is basically a luxury off roading vehicle for your children. It’s supposedly for super active outdoorsy families, but that didn’t stop me from wanting one.

Again, I can’t emphasize enough that having a double jogging stroller even just for walks makes an insane difference in the ease of pushing for you.

Plus, if you ever change your mind and decide to start running, you’re covered.

So why didn’t I buy a BOB double jogging stroller?

Well I really wanted to, but I didn’t want to spend another $600+ on a double jogging stroller.

As this point I felt kind of embarrassed I fell for the UPPAbaby VISTA double stroller trick, and I couldn’t justify spending that much more on my now fleet of overpriced strollers.

I tried to find a deal online and couldn’t. I even tried to look at used options but couldn’t find anything viable.

If you have absolutely no budget, then by all means, get the BOB double jogging stroller. It’s awesome.

If I would have all the knowledge I have now when I registered, that’s what I would have done.

But I didn’t. So now I have an UPPAbaby VISTA, multiple umbrella strollers, and the best double jogging stroller ever.

The Only Double Jogging Stroller You Need

And now we come to the end of my double jogging stroller journey, and the answer you’ve all been looking for.

If you need an amazing double jogging stroller but don’t want to spend $600+ on another crazy brand name option, where do you turn?

Amazon my friends, you turn to Amazon.

Since Amazon is able to fix so many of my daily life problems, I decided to search there for my double jogging stroller woes a well.

What I found was a side by side double jogging stroller that had everything I needed, and was less than $200.

What?

That’s the same amount I paid for a crappy single umbrella stroller at buybuyBaby.

Obviously this seemed to good to be true, so I read every single review and did a ton of online research.

Ultimately I went for it. And luckily for you, I did.

This double jogging stroller has literally been such a gift for our family, and I’ll tell you why.

Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogging Stroller Benefits

Here is a breakdown of exactly what I love about the Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogging Stroller:

  • Seating Layout. The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogging Stroller is a side by side setup, which is exactly what I wanted. This way the girls can both see the same stuff at the same time, and they can bond together and have fun without being awkwardly separated.
  • Huge Wheels. Because this is a jogging stroller, the Baby Trend Expedition has a huge three wheel setup that is super easy to push and a VERY smooth ride. I might go as far to say it’s just a smooth, if not smoother than the UPPAbaby VISTA.
  • Adjustable Seat Recline. Each seat on this double jogging stroller can be reclined at several different positions individually. This is awesome because a younger child may need more of a recline for more neck support, and your older child may want to sit up.
  • Massive Flexible Canopy. Canopies are an incredibly important and often overlooked aspect of a stroller. This stroller has the coolest and most usable canopy I’ve ever seen. It’s huge, and also is totally disconnected so you can push it as far forward or backwards as you want.
  • Storage. This stroller doesn’t have insane amounts of storage, but it’s pretty cool for a double jogging stroller. It has a divided area underneath, and a netted storage bag on the back too.
  • Self Standing Fold. The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogging Stroller is super easy to fold and stands upright on its own when folder (big stroller win).

Seriously, I can’t tell you how happy the quality of this stroller makes me for the price I paid. To this day I still feel like I found some sort of a secret loophole to having multiple kids.

And I feel ever BETTER that I never handed that extra cash over to UPPAbaby for their silly add on seat. Winning!

You can grab your Baby Trend Expedition stroller in black/purple, or grey/lime green, or all black.

Enjoy!
